Married for 8 years How did you and your DH/SO meet?
We had met through a mutual friend. I was actually so in love with his best friend-which we hung out for a while. I went on vacation and he moved on. I was devastated. His best friend was killed on a motorcycle and we just became better friends. I made the first move((WOOT WOOT)) and we've been together ever since! What is the best part of being a mommy?
The unconditional love. In every relationship you have to give something to get something or the person moves on. Not your children. They just love you because you are Mom. What was/is your profession?
What, Mom isn't one? LOl Kidding..kind of! I actually graduated in May with my Bachelors in Social Work. What is your Favorite Food?
Chinese What are some of your interests?
TV, Sleeping, being out doors, date nights Where is the one place in the world you would like to visit the most?
Greece Tell us about your child(ren) and your journey to becoming a mom. I have two adorable boys. It took 8 months to get pregnant with my first. I had the most horrible delivery and we were just at the point of thinking we didn't want another one when my second surprised us. My husband had lost his well paying job 4 months after I quit my job in insurance to go back to school. We had lost everything and were living with family. I refused to take a test for a month and cried when I found out. I actually told my Mom the week before I suspected anything that we were done having children! LOL Now, of course, our family is perfect and we have no plans on adding!! William is 5. He is laid back. He loves to please and is very affectionate. He is going to be the guy who is 100% romantic with his girlfriend. He was 6 days shy of entering K this year. He went from having the same friends since he was 6 months to knowing no one, which has been one of the hardest things for me to deal with. He is eager to start school and is a total mommies boy. Wes just turned two and is the most independent little man ever, except when he is sick. Then he wants his mommy. He has his Mommy's sugar tooth and Daddy's wild side. He idolizes his big brother and will do ANYTHING he does. Are you from North Carolina? If not, where are you from and what brought you here? Nope. We are from Michigan-about 30 miles from Ann Arbor. My husband was offered a job with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. What was your first CPM event?
Doing the cards for soldiers. If you had an afternoon of time to yourself, what would you do? Wow. That would never happen now. However, if I did, I'd probably sleep...lol..or go see a movie. I would have never gone to the movies before by myself but now I would. What (or who) is your favorite: -Season? Summer -Day of the week? Friday -Pizza topping? Hamburger & mushrooms (won't eat one without the other and is about the only topping I'll eat) -Number? 7 -TV show of all time? Bones If you could be President for one day, and had the power to pass laws w/o the hassle of the pesky Congress and Senate, what would you do with that one day? I'd pass stricter laws on child abuse offenders. I'd also make the sex offender registry very detailed. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why? Anywhere my parents are. I have always been super close to them and now seeing the effects of their absence in my children's lives is devastating to not on us but also them. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why? This one is hard. I'd love to open an organization for orphaned children here in the United States. One that would take in older kids and brothers and sisters. It breaks my heart to hear and see children who have no one but brothers and sisters being broken up. Or children who are older and "not wanted" It also pisses me off to read and hear about children who have been abused in foster care. That or have millions of dollars to be able to give to whatever charities I wanted. Basically a philanthropist. Have the kind of money where you can make demands before you give to a charity.
February Is Cultural Awareness Month!
February is Cultural Awareness Month at The Mommies Network, and we're thinking globally! Share a love for foreign language and different cultures with your child in our Multicultural Mommies forum on our National Chapter. Each week, we'll feature several languages and cultural tidbits. You may also participate and strengthen your language lingo in a special webinar. Additionally, our sponsor will provide information on how you can continue your language-learning experience after the month is over.
According to Associated Content, brain research shows that children are at an optimal age for language learning. Although language study is effective at any age, some studies suggest that the human brain is more open to learning a foreign language from birth to preadolescence. Fortunately, researchers have not found an age in which the language window closes completely, especially in the areas of grammar and vocabulary.
Take advantage of this opportunity to think globally, and join us as we learn about foreign languages and different ways of life during Cultural Awareness Month at TMN!
